The Nigeria São Tomé and Príncipe Joint Development Zone (JDZ) is located in the deepwater Niger Delta.  In excess of 12 billion bbls of recoverable oil reserves have been discovered to date in this deepwater province with an exploration success rate better than 50%.

The block is operated by Anadarko, and EER holds a 10% interest. The block covers an area of 666 sq km.  9 prospects were identified by ECL in a non-exclusive study in 2003, with multi billion barrel potential. A 3D survey acquired by PGS in 2003 is currently being reprocessed prior to revising the prospect mapping.  The positive results from the Obo-1 well in JDZ Block 1 have increased the chance of success on the block and it is expected that the first exploration well in JDZ Block 3 will be spudded in early 2009, depending upon rig availability.
