The Ajapa discovery well was drilled by Gulf Oil in 1987 and the area is covered by 3D seismic data. Ajapa lies 10 km from the coast in 9 meters of water and is close to export infrastructure.

The discovery well tested at a total rate of >6,047 BOPD of 50API and 12.7 MMSCFGPD discovery remained undeveloped and was awarded to Brittania-U, a Nigerian oil company as part of the marginal field initiative.

EER joined the Ajapa partnership in August 2006 with an initial 20% interest. Partners in the field are Brittania-U Nigeria (indigenous company, Operator) and Syntroleum Nigeria Ltd. EER has recently acquired Syntroleum Nigeria Ltd, hence increasing its interest to 40%.

Two wells were drilled in Q1 2008, confirming the hydrocarbon column seen in Ajapa-1. Forward plan is for first production in Q1 2009.
