Sea Bed Logging (SBL) is a new application of formation resistivity measurement that can reduce risk levels prior to drilling. The SBL technique offers unique means of determining the fluid content of a prospect prior to drilling.

In West Africa for example, deep water exploration blocks tend to be large. Although these large blocks will have a number of prospects, drilling often results in dry wells because of the limitations of conventional seismic methods.  SBL, when applied in the appropriate setting, enables prospects to be ranked with increased confidence and can substantially reduce the number of dry wells.
