Seismic modelling provides visual representation of seismic data to allow more information to be extracted from subsurface surveys, and presents a clearer picture of structures and reserves.
By using data from a seismic survey and subjecting it to analysis, a computer-generated model of earth layers and their thickness, density and composition can be developed. Understanding the limits of this model can provide answers to questions of structure and stratigraphy, and provide subsurface images which can significantly reduce the risks and uncertainties inherent in exploration and exploitation of oil and gas reservoirs.
